Ocean Beach II: Sunset
This was what I had waited decades to see once again. Sunset over the Pacific at the place where I first saw the might of the ocean at the western end of the continent. The memory of the radiance and glory was finally renewed at the vast body of water named after peace. Here is where I found a convergence of hypnotic outer and inner calm, basking in the glory of the sun.
Ocean Beach reaches its true peak when the light turns bright orange. The life-giving energy of the sun slowly decides to lower itself and rest at the end of each day. With hills and mountains in the distance, the greenery of Golden Gate Park in the rear, and the limitless water in front, all other aspects of life fade away. There is only you, the sky and the colors. There really is nothing like a Pacific sunset.
But the beach contains more. There are birds flying and people engaged in various activities that only seem to happen on sand and shore. I wanted to experience as much of it as I could in a time span of just a few hours in two days. It was not enough to do it justice, but the moments were still unforgettable.
